Another new band to feast your ears on. The Manky Melters are a French Celtic-Folk-Punk band led by a charismatic female singer and they are just getting started!
Because as long as you toast, you might as well get drunk!
Always great to bring you a new band and new bands just keep arriving giving me faith that this scene will be around a long long time. In a week I also found out about an ace Japanese band – Patrick&Patricia – and a band I love released their first music in five years – Tullamore – I was also sent some links by todays band The Manky Melters. Formed this year in the beautiful eastern French town of Sélestat near the city of Strasbourg. In a scene that is predominantly male-fronted (it’s also fair to say that about any kind of music) they are led by a charismatic female singer, Giada. On hearing them for the first time her vocals reminded me a bit of Shannon over at Black Water County. Bringing together five seasoned rock musicians, including three members of fellow French Celtic-Punk band The Moorings who released the excellent March On?! (#14 in last years LCP Top 30) album in 2022. The lyrics alternate as both a sharp look at society and an invitations to let yourself go to their fiery, turbulent, festive music.
Shenanigans here
Shenanigans there
Shenanigans everywhere
*
From e’vry county / of this dear land
Up to Downing street / n’ the Houses of Paliament
Wheeling and dealing / in any old way
Always sneaks right in / to mess up the game… For
*
No one gives a damn / nor about you
Nor ‘bout any scam / or deceitful point of views
Visceral swindlers / and their naked greed
don’t use much poppers / to do as they please… For
*
On the left on the right ahead or behind
where ever you look it’s the same old same old sight…
Of manners where ethics do not really apply
And trickeries arise in the blink of an eye

Both tracks are available as ‘name your price’ downloads from the Bandcamp app. This of course means you can choose how much you want to pay so be generous if you can afford to. Guinness is expensive in France!
